Macro World

nature

Macro photographs of insects reveal unexpected details and colors in a world that is normally not accessible to the human eye. What is often experienced as just another fly is in fact quite an extraordinary animal with interesting details like their compound eyes. If one looks closely enough pollen is visible sticking on some of the tiny animals bodies.
All images are taken with a combination of extension tubes, a lens inverter ring and a standard 35mm lens. An external flash was used to add some light and increase the color brilliance.

Bernese Alps

nature

Rugged peaks, deep valleys and countless waterfalls are only some of the qualities of the Bernese Alps. For more than ten years I had the privilege to regularly photograph this region in all seasons and weather conditions.
This series of photographs is an attempt to document the raw beauty of these pristine landscapes. Many of which seem to be untouched by human influence. Unfortunately this is not the case. The most prominent indicators for our influence are the glaciers, which have been shrinking at ever-growing rates in recent decades. By the end of century most are expected to have melted away.
